Night weaning III

Night #5 was the second night with no nursing. Relative to the first, this one was a slamming success. Peter decided to sleep in the guest bed because he presence was not really changing the situation one way or the other and one of us might as well sleep. So, I settled in to our bed and was about to go to sleep when the little gnome woke up. I went up to his bed and settled him back to sleep. He did not try to nurse, or at least not very hard. I reminded him that booby was sleeping (yes, with those exact words. I know) and he seemed to accept that and rolled over and went to sleep. I then tried to sneak away and he woke up again. Fearing a reprisal of the night before when he was awake and yelling for hours, I hopped into his twin bed with him. Shortly thereafter Calliope joined. And thus passed the night. The little gnome woke slightly here and there, but mostly to confirm that I was still there. Once he asked to go to Papa's bed, but I waited a moment and he did not repeat the request. Despite the shortness of the bed and the fact that we were one adult, one two year-old, and one lapdog in a twin, I got a lot more sleep than I had the previous night. I would have snuck into the other room again, but every time I woke up enough to contemplate it, the little gnome seemed to be in a light sleeping phase too. At 6:30 he woke up completely and wanted to nurse. Since I could see light at the edges of the windows, I knew it must be morning and allowed it.
